RE: NOMINATION TO BECOME THE CANADIAN ALLIANCE CANDIDATE IN OTTAWA WEST-NEPEAN

Friends,

One of the tests of responsible citizenship is a willingness to become involved in the political process. We do this when we vote but too few Canadians become involved at the party level where we have the opportunity to affect policy and select capable people to run for political office. So, first of all, I would like to thank everyone who joined the Canadian Alliance as a gesture of confidence in my capabilities as a potential leadership candidate. Though it did not prove viable to enter the race formally, I learned a great deal about how it is done. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed participating in an historic development for our country.

Because a federal election is likely for next spring, candidates are now being selected to contest their ridings to become their Members of Parliament. I have been honoured with approaches from three Canadian Alliance riding associations in the Ottawa area to seek their nomination. After careful consideration, I have decided to seek the nomination in my home riding of Ottawa West-Nepean, where I ran in 1997 as the federal Progressive Conservative candidate.

A meeting to select the Canadian Alliance candidate for Ottawa West-Nepean will be held 7.00pm Thursday, 12th October at Centrepointe Theatre, 101 Centrepointe Drive in Nepean. Those of you who live in the riding and have a membership are eligible to vote at this meeting. Anyone, however, may attend the information meetings being held on Wednesday, the 27th of September and Wednesday, October 4th. Both information meetings will be held in the auditorium of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral at 1000 Byron Avenue in Ottawa at 7pm. In order to win the nomination, I need financial and volunteer support. In addition, I need as many members of the Canadian Alliance riding association of Ottawa West-Nepean as possible voting for me at Centrepointe Theatre on October 12th. If you would like to make a donation, volunteer some time, or know anyone who lives in the riding, is a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant sixteen years of age or older, and would like to buy a membership in order to vote for me, please call me at (613)225-1736. Memberships must be purchased on or before the 4th October.

Sincerely,

Margret
